Daily Word: AEC Rewind

Many of our schools have finished exams and will get a bit of a break before picking up again after the New Year. Of course, if you are a believer in the Mayans, we may only have a week of America East basketball left. Chances are, however, that we will get to crown a champion in Albany this March. So for the time being, get caught up on all the games from this past weekend.

Fast Break

A triple from John Papale with six seconds left sent Boston U. into overtime versus Quinnipiac. The Terriers went on to win behind Papale's team leading 16 points.

Yolonzo Moore II and Mark Nwakamma both had 13 points for Hartford on Saturday while shooting a combined 53 percent from the field.

In a loss to Marist on Sunday, Maine had four scorers reach double digits, led by Justin Edwards and his 23 points.

New Hampshire nearly beat Boston College thanks to 21 points from Ferg Myrick. It is the third time in the last five games that Myrick has gone for 20 or more.

Brian Voelkel had 14 points and 10 boards for Vermont in a loss yesterday. After not reaching double figures once in his first seven games, Voelkel has gone for 14 points twice in his last three games.

Shereesha Richards became the fifth different player to lead Albany in scoring this year, as her 16 points and eight rebounds helped the Great Danes with their sixth straight game.

Binghamton's Jasbriell Swain had 10 rebounds versus Syracuse, bringing her average up to 7.5 per game for the season.

Ruthanne Doherty led Hartford with 21 points on an extremely efficient 10 of 16 shooting performance. She is the first Hawk to reach the 20 point plateau this season.

With four treys off the bench, Dani Klupenger has now made the fifth-most three-pointers in Stony Brook history with 77.

Vermont native Kylie Atwood led the Catamounts in scoring for the first time this season in a tough road loss against Oklahoma St.

The Hartt School of Music at Hartford is holding a benefit concert for Newtown, Conn. Our thoughts continue to be with the town's residents as they begin the road to recovery.
