Albany Volleyball Wins Championship



On Saturday evening, the University at Albany Great Danes volleyball team won the 2010 America East Championship, defeating UMBC, 3-0. The Great Danes took all three sets, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20.

Albany was led by tournament Most Outstanding Player Teresa Coppiellie. Coppiellie led Albany with 12 kills and added 19 digs in the championship match on her way to being named MOP. She was joined on the All-Championship team by teammates Casey Wright and Laurie Gonzalez.

The All-Championship squad also included Hallie Carter and Sabrina Hoeks from second-place UMBC, Jeanette Gibbs from Stony Brook and Anna Lejina from Binghamton.
